Serial Device Server

USR IoT · 8-port

An eight-port serial device server from USR IoT: transparent transfer between TCP/UDP packets and 8 × RS485 ports, with a built-in Modbus gateway. It brings serial meters, PLCs and energy meters onto Ethernet for MY-IIOT and host systems.

Core functions

  • 8 × RS485Eight RS485 ports in one unit for concentrated connection of field serial devices.
  • Transparent transferBidirectional transparent transfer between TCP/UDP packets and serial data, leaving the existing serial protocol untouched.
  • Built-in Modbus gatewayModbus protocol conversion for straightforward integration with host systems.
  • Wide-range inputDC 9.0 V – 36.0 V input drawing 120 mA at 12 V, tolerant of site power conditions.
  • Edge computing and secure transportM7 core with the eight ports working independently; supports edge computing, MQTT and SSL-encrypted transport.
Eight-port serial device server: 222 × 132 × 35 mm body with 8 port LEDs, dual Ethernet and USB
Eight-port serial device server: 222 × 132 × 35 mm (L×W×H), 8 × RS485 working independently, dual 100 Mbps Ethernet and terminal blocks.

Typical applications

Where serial device servers are used most: bringing RS485 devices onto Ethernet for host systems or MY-IIOT.

Shop-floor metering and energy data

RS485 meters for power and water are concentrated onto the network for continuous energy data collection and upload.

Retrofitting legacy serial equipment

Older machines, meters and controllers with only an RS485 port join Ethernet without replacing the equipment.

Modbus devices into host systems

The built-in Modbus gateway converts the serial side to Ethernet protocols for SCADA, MES and MY-IIOT.

Consolidating multiple serial links

Eight ports working independently let one unit concentrate several serial links, cutting field cabling and cabinet space.
